Baking Cookies

It is Saturday, and the rain is coming down at an inch a minute. Dad has the day off, but Mom has to go to work all day. What is our hero going to do with the kids all day? A wonderful rainy day activity that is fun and educational is baking cookies. The kids will be having fun, getting dirty witch they love, and Dad just has to supervise. So let's get started.
             .
Pull out three cookie sheets that are nine by eleven inches, and spray them with cooking spray. Turn your oven on to 350 degrees. You will need two bowls, one for wet ingredients and one for dry. A two cup measuring cup, measuring spoons and a spatula should do you fine. The ingredients you will need are two cups self rising-flour ,one cup sugar, one cup brown sugar, four tablespoons dry milk, one teaspoon vanilla, one half-cup butter, two teaspoons honey, one egg, half-teaspoon salt, one bag (12 oz) chocolate chips. You may add up to two cups of nuts if you want. If you do not have self-rising flour, you need one-half teaspoon of baking soda.
To make the wet portion of this recipe, start by combining sugar, brown sugar, and butter in a bowl until there are no lumps. Add in vanilla, honey, and the egg and stir thoroughly. At this point, your batter should look like thick, wet sand. Next, prepare the dry portion of the recipe. Mix together the self-rising flour, dry milk, and salt. Once both mixtures are completed, you may slowly combine them. The dough should be thick and stick to your finger. If the mixture is too wet, you can add more flour. If it is too stiff, try adding a little water. Now we can add the chocolate and nuts.
There are many types of chocolate chips you can choose from. If you like vanilla chips, that is fine also. You can add as much or as little as you want. I use two cups of chocolate chips and 2 cups of nuts. There are several types of nuts to choose from also. I like almonds myself. Before adding nuts, you need to grind them in a blender for five or ten seconds.
