             Off-road motorcycle riding is an incredible sport that blends mechanical genius with athletic ability, finesse, and patience. It offers a multitude of challenges for riders of all skill levels and rewards them with the opportunity to interact with Mother Nature, and most importantly, it is extremely fun. The ultimate meshing of man and machine, trying to conquer the natural terrain, and the unexplainable feeling of freedom is what makes riding motorcycles so incredible. From racing against forty opponents on a grueling track, to experiencing trails with the family, motocross offers it all. Having been around since the late sixties, and not becoming extremely popular until the late nineties with the rise of the X-Games, motocross has been little known by the mainstream. With motocross becoming increasingly popular, more people want to participate. By recognizing the three major types of dirt bike riding, those new to the sport of motocross can better decide which type they would rather become involved in.
             Motocross racing takes place on a closed course with technical jumps and turns. It pits up to forty racers against one another, racing for the first place trophy, and possibly a championship. The race courses are composed of natural terrain, which oftentimes includes drastic elevation changes natural to the region. The tracks are long, produce high speeds and have close racing action. To purists, motocross is the lifeblood of riding motorcycles. Racing is extremely intense and dangerous, and must be taken seriously. Motocross takes skill and finesse to race and is, to many, the most fun. It gives the rider an indescribable feeling when holding the throttle open and launching high into the air. Motocross is for the person who loves new challenges, wants to overcome dangerous obstacles, and is exhilarated with pure speed. .
             Trail riding is another form of motocross that the entire family can enjoy.
