Divorce

For the spouse to resolve their emotions requires passage of time. In most cases it will take more than one year for a spouse to recover from the reality of divorce.(Payne & Payne,12-16).
             ii. The Economic Crisis.
When there is a family breakdown which leads to divorce, spousal property entitlement received by the other spouse cannot usually cannot provide a long term economic security for the future. Most felt by this problem are young mother's and homemaking wives, who are worse off after divorce. Since they have no real skills they are ill-equipped to provide for their children and find it very hard to convert their homemaking skills into employment. And even if these parents were paid their support in full or on time , the majority of the spouses would be living near poverty level. The only solution for this problem cannot be changed in family law, but also in social and political policies. Canadians must push for pay equity, provide equal opportunities for men and women in the work force and guarantee a income for the poor. Also providing schools with nurseries to watch children while the mother or father receives a education.(Payne & Payne,16-19).
             iii. The Parenting Crisis .
When marriage ends it is not the intention to ruin the relationship between the parent and child but that what ends up happening. Separated parents often play war games with their children. Children are often used as messengers, spies and bargaining chips in spousal negotiations. The children must keep a positive relationship with both parents, in the long run this would be best off for the child. But after separation the parent-child relationships should not remain the same as they were through the marriage. Both parents must adjust to the change from a single home to two households. If relationship not not active with the absent parent, there relationship is dangled in the air. While spouses are struggling with there problems, the children are also facing the same emotional problems which not only the parents can solve.
