Music is an expression of emotion that timelessly stirs the human soul. Music influences the senses and can inspire the accomplishment of unthinkable goals. Music is the rich taste of ice-cold water on a scorching day providing our minds a cool oasis that releases us from a common day rat race we call life. Music is art and in my opinion it is the best of all. It can take us on a journey to places where we have never been or to a mindset that we have never had.
As life may have it, nothing can be perfect. A dark cloud has been spreading itself over music's vast horizon. In this capitalistic society big name labels that have cornered the market and have thrown the true musicians aside ruining all that once was great about music. An artist needs emotion as an inspiration to write music. Lately music has turned from an emotional release to a money making scam.
This newfound business preys upon people that are searching for something that can express what they are feeling whether or not the emotion they are searching for is pain or joy. Music has turned into just another business that the corporate giants have set up to obtain every cent we can hand over.
When did this mockery of common art begin to occur? I suspect this occurred when the first band signed to a managing firm. This was the corner stone of what we call pop culture today. Music has launched many famous people. These people become extremely popular in the public eye, which gives the artist a chance to have a business outlook on things. Supply and demand is their policy. The artist can charge mass amounts of money to be seen performing. .
This process has caused the beauty of music to decay. Musicians no longer looked upon as artist, but as entertainers. Artists are expected to have flashy dance moves and mesmerizing melodies. Music today has no room for songs with real meanings behind them.
