Drug abuse has become a major social problem in many parts of the world. Discuss consequences of drug abuse and ways to deal with it.
Drug abuse is a big problem, especially among young people. We can notice that more and more teenagers become addicted and their parents even don`t know about it. Drugs are popular nowadays and they`re easy to get because the number of people who sell them increases all the time.
There are many reasons why people take drugs. Firstly they are curious and want to try something that will make their life happier and more attractive.
They search for an escape from the boring world in drugs instead of solving their problems. As regards the drug abuse among teenagers it`s partly their parents` fault that their kids are addicted because they don`t care about them enough and young people search for some other models which they could imitate but often it`s a wrong choice. They spend their time in a way that's not beneficial for them and damage their health by taking drugs. Many people think that they won`t become addicted by taking drugs occasionally but it`s proved that you may become an addict even after your first contact with drugs. This carries very bad consequences for our health both physical and mental. Drugs have a strong influence on nervous system. People who take them get easily depressed, suffer from insomnia and may even become mentally ill. They can have problems with normal life activities which never caused them difficulties when they weren`t addicted. Such cases often end up with suicide. Death may also be caused by drug overdose.
There are ways of preventing this problem. First of all, parent`s should be aware of it and take care of their kids. They should help them in solving their problems. Parents also have to know how drugs look like and it could be done by giving leaflets with photos of drugs, print as much information about them in papers and make more programs about drugs on TV.
