Death

Death is certainly a positive thing because it can bring a conclusion to a person who was a threat in the past. For kids, the death could be of a monster like the Bogey Man or Roseanne. Death is not always a bad thing if it is only seen only through the negative perspective. Death is a good thing in so many ways.
Death is positive, of course, but it is not like a birthday party positive. People do not jump up at funerals and yell "Whoopie! He's dead." It may be the feeling of satisfaction by killing a person for revenge. Montresor from, "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edger Allen Poe, said, "I had borne as I best could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge" (pg. 777). He wanted revenge on Fortunato because he had insulted him and Montresor did get his revenge in the end. "I forced the last stone into its position; I plastered it up. Against the new masonry I re-erected the old rampart of bones. For the half of a century no mortal has disturbed them. In pace requiescat" (pg. 782)! Another example is "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell. "The general made one of his deepest bows. "I see," he said. "Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard, Rainsford." He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided" (pg. 806). Zaroff hunted live people and his time came to an end when Rainsford survived being hunted and avenged the deaths of Zaroff's human prey in the process. .
Death might not even be a person dying but the figure of death itself, the grim reaper. "Sir, I knew your father, And we were friends at the end. As for your gardener, I did not threaten him. Old men mistake my gestures. I only meant to ask him To show me to his master. I take it you are he" (pg. 729)? The portrayal of death here is that he is not an evil person but a friendly person who tries to make the best of your passing. Another positive aspect of death is the enlightenment it provides to other people.
