Today throughout the United States, countless teens could become faced with a variety of pressures. Over ninety percent of the nation's adolescents suffer from some kind of stress. Today's teens suffer from more stress than ever before. According toTime?, magazine stress causes suicide in many young adults. The three leading causes of stress in a teenager's life include school, family, and friends.
One predominant cause of stress in adolescents involves school. Homework consumes a majority of a teen's free time. Teenagers receive tremendous amounts of homework each night leaving them with no extra time to relax. In addition, when young adults receive overwhelming amounts of homework teens will react by forgetting to complete some of their assignments resulting in a lower grade. Trying too hard to keep straight A's would result in more anxiety. When report cards arrive many teens, become stressed due to their low grades. Some teens stress themselves out when they try to hide their report cards from parents. Another stressing factor within school is teachers since they give students so much work to complete. Sometimes teachers will not tell teens about an assignment causing stress when young adults come to class the next day. When you become in trouble at school, some teachers will put tremendous amounts of pressure on teens by yelling. Teachers often do not give teenagers enough information on projects causing teens not to complete the work. School is arguably the largest pressuring factor in many teens? lives.
Another contributing factor in stress revolves around relationships within the family structure. Parents stress a majority of teens out by nagging when they do something wrong. Parents moreover never seem to agree with youths about any issue. Then when teens ask to visit a friend parents will not let you go for any little insignificant reason they can think of. Chores at home can even stress teens out because when it combines with homework it leaves no leisure time.
