The issue of violence anywhere is not a new phenomenon. Local news is filled with murders, rape, robbery etc which in way portraits the city's environment. A product of few employment opportunity, poor public education and run-down housing all combine to create an environment where any residents become violent out of anger and despair. However, the problem of violence has no barriers, extends throughout the world and has no mercy on any town, suburb, and city. Determining who will become the next victim is as easy as determining who will be the next person to win the lottery. .
No one can deny that violence has become a pervasive element in our society. With exclusive media coverage, we are flooded every day with stories of murder and assault that leave us wondering what has happened to our society and how did things become so bad. Not only has the explosion of violence left residents of poor neighborhoods angry and frightened over the perpetual murder of family, friends, and acquaintances, but those in peaceful suburbs and towns are learning that living in nice homes and having friendly neighbors no longer protects one from becoming a victim. As these random acts of violence leave us asking "why?" over and over again, we are consistently left without answers as we try to interpret these acts of violence. .
There are many other reasons that have led to violence and drug is one of them. A drug addict will do anything to obtain the money for their daily dosage. Dealers on the other hand can go to an extent of murder if anyone steps in their arena or threatens their profits intentionally or by accident. People who are stoned, high, and wasted are likely to commit crimes of all kinds, including violent crimes such as assault, robbery, rape, and murder. Intoxicated people are also more likely to cause accidents and to be the victims of accidents, including motor vehicle accidents, than are people whose brains are working without the impairing effects of alcohol and other drugs.
