The tension between passion an

Prometheus from the tragedy Prometheus Bound and Medea from the tragedy Medea are two characters in which the interactions between the three parts of the soul are strongly observable. Nonetheless the two characters are completely distinctive. Prometheus who is one of the gods of Olympus demonstrates more reasoning than passion. Through out the whole play we notice a lot of emotions involved but yet his reasoning is stronger and pulls the spirit of the god much stronger. We see that in his thoughts, in his actions, and in the way he communicates with the other characters in the play. Media on the other hand is a female character that we expect to see a lot of emotions from. She certainly is emotional, but her emotions drive her to carry out evil acts and not what the women in ancient Greece were expected to do. Medea is a character not a lot of the audience liked when the play was performed because she is not the typical woman of the society back then, she cannot control her emotions. We notice that element of her character again by the thoughts she has, her actions, and the way she communicates with other characters in the play.
Prometheus as it was said above is a god and therefore he is expected to behave like one by the audience of the play. He is wise and uses wisdom and intelligence to control and suppress his emotions towards Zeus. In the beginning of the play we meet with the reason of Prometheus' punishment: his "favors to mankind-. His activities on behalf of men are pointed, but their effect is intellectual rather than emotional. He hears Zeus' plan of destroying all mortals just because that suits "the Father-, as power calls Zeus, better and then he decides to help mortals by giving them fire, teaching them math, science and other subjects helpful for their survival. Yes, Prometheus is angry with Zeus for being so careless but he doesn't help mortals because of that eager feeling but he uses reason.
