Even though it seems like my grandmother was so nice and adorable, she had a bad side. She raised not only her kids, but my sister and I with so much respect and discipline. That's why, when any of us got out of line, we paid for it. We had to speak with proper English and no cursing, we also had to have our clothes ironed before we could leave the house, as well as our shirts tucked in. I must admit, I've changed a lot since I've gotten older, but I couldn't imagine seeing some of these kids now days growing up in my childhood. Children now days talk back to their parents, dress how .
.
they want to, stay out at any hour of the night, but most importantly, eat whenever they want to! .
I don't regret a thing about the way I was raised, because that's what made me into the respectful and intelligent man that I am today. I can't even imagine what would happen if Mama Emily wasn't around.
In an attempt to understand and help others understand different cultures, I interviewed a kid named Damion Anderson. Learning about someone else's culture was the most interesting and educated thing I had ever done since my four years attending Ramapo College. After Interviewing Damion Anderson I now have a different perception of live it self. He said his experience reminds him of the Alternative Center they once had at Ramapo, which consist of an agricultural garden, the green house, and the solar energy house. He said the whole system of operation reminds him of the experience he had living in a world where his resources were limited. He had no choice other than to live a conservable life. Shortly after he made that comment, I came to the understanding that the people of today are living in a "bed of roses", including myself. We take a lot of things for granted. We do not know how to live our lives without depending on society. If something were to happen, and all the resources that makes us humans comfortable disappear, I guarantee that there will be a dilemma.
