There are several policies that I might change as President of the United States, however, if I had the opportunity to be in office for one day, I would want to do something that would bring joy to many people. In light of the recent events in the Middle East, my objective would be to arrange for each and every American troop to be sent home for the 4th of July. As a reward for capturing Saddam Hussein, and for risking their lives to protect our freedom, these brave soldiers should get the chance to spend Independence Day with their families, at home. These military heroes, who have fought so hard to keep our country as safe as possible, should be rewarded with the thing they long for most, a day at home with family and friends. .
July 4th would be best because it represents the day of the year that symbolizes our freedom as American citizens. Logistically, it would have to be a secret military operation that would mirror George W. Bush's trip to Iraq on Thanksgiving Day. With the Iraqi Governing Counsel in complete control, and in a very secretive manner, and to ensure that the return of every soldier to their home is a surprise to all, hundreds of military and commercial airplanes would be sent to Iraq to collect all military personnel on July 3rd. The flights would arrive on the morning of July 4th and every soldier would be delivered to their home for the day. A giant celebration of our country, our freedom, and our soldiers would rival New Years Eve in Times Square all over America. A reunion such as this, would not only give thanks to our dedicated troops, but also invigorate our soldiers to finish that task at hand.
