Pay it Forward

The movement of Pay It Forward began about 20 years ago. To pay it forward means to do something for three other people that they can't do for themselves. Then hopefully those three people will each help three more. This is how it is supposed to work. The book of Pay It forward came first. The motion picture of Pay It Forward came last. The movement followed the book. The author of the book is Catherine Ryan Hyde. About 20 years ago, she was driving in a rough area of downtown Los Angles. Suddenly, her car started smoking. As she was getting out she noticed two gentlemen running towards her with blankets. She had no idea her engine was on fire. The men quickly put out the fire. She thought to herself that these two men rushed over to save her life and possibly endangered their own. This gave Catherine the inspiration to write the book Pay It Forward.
We see the story through many characters" eyes. I think Hyde does this because she wants us to see the challenge that each character goes through when paying it forward. I would have to say that Trevor seems most significant to me. I guess just because he is young and has such a eager mind. He seems very willing to help people. Mr. Simonet is significant in that he had something wrong with his body. I don't find anything significant with Arlene though. I guess Trevor is significant because I find myself wanting to help people. In Mr. Simonet I find that I too had a problem with my physical appearance. I always had a weight problem growing up. I was always picked on and it gave me low self esteem. .
Trevor is a young boy in 7th grade. He is quite exigent and full of utopian ideas. He has no problems with anybody except his mother and his so called father. His mother is an alcoholic and needs to get help. His father was a very bad alcoholic who beat Trevor's mother. He left when Trevor was young. This made Trevor want to help someone.
