To wear A&F or Not to Wear A&F?

I had never thought that only Caucasian teenagers mostly shop at Abercrombie and Fitch. When I interviewed my friend Tara, I asked her to comment on what she thought about that. .
One time I was in class, it was my junior year of high school, and I was wearing my A&F logo T-shirt. My friend, who was black, commented on it and said that she hated that store. I asked her why, and she said that whenever she went in that store, the people who worked there would always make her feel uncomfortable. She told me that they wouldn't give her the same service and attention as the other shoppers.
I don't know if that was paranoia, or if the sales associates actually did treat her with disrespect, but Abercrombie has had recent controversy with racism on their clothing.
According to Brittany Adams of the Daily Californian:.
A group of students from the UC Berkeley Asian Pacific Council attended the protests to challenge negative stereotypes portrayed by the store's clothing line. The protested line of clothing includes T-shirt that reads, "Wong Brothers Laundry Service-- Two Wongs Can Make it White." A caricature of two men with slanted eyes and conical hats is pictured next to the slogan."(lines 1-7).
This t-shirt was made with a racist slogan that was directed at the asian community. When i found out about these accusations, I was shocked. Does Abercrombie think that they can get away with anything they want? Does this appeal to upper to middle class Caucasian teens? I .
don't believe that this was actually printed onto one of their garments. When i read further on, the A&F spokesperson told the associated press that the company is "very, very, very sorry," .
and that it was never their intention to offend anyone. But what do you do when you did? The article stated that the t-shirts were taken off the official A&F web site, and taken off the shelves .
immediately. But does that help that some of the asian community was offended by the slogans on their t-shirts? The T-shirts were taken off the shelves, but the impression of the A&F corporation stays imbedded in the asian communities minds forever.
