The Firm and The Lord of the Flies Comparison

Nothing in life is worth the sacrifices that you have to make in order to gain and have power, over anything and everything. This power eventually leads to other sacrifices that may lead to the person giving in to evil urges. When evil takes over, it will ruin the lives of many people. "There is some soul of goodness in evil, would men observantly distil it out? In The Firm, by John Grisham, Mitch McDeere has to risk losing everything in order to be one of the most powerful lawyers in the country. It is only a matter of time, until he realizes that if he doesn't make the right choices and soon, it will only lead to the death of him and his wife. .
When man wants something bad enough, he will go to any extent to have it. It is at this point when he is capable of the force of evil, which lurks inside all of us. .
Evil is inside everyone but it can be brought out by other people who offer such tempting things that you will do anything in order to get what you want. In The Firm, Mitch gets an offer, to work in one of the most powerful law firms in the country. Mitch believes that if he gets the job there he will have everything he ever wanted: money and power. For this reason, Mitch has to work extremely hard in order to get the job. He has to give up everything and change his lifestyle and his personality. I think this is what motivates people to be evil: temptation. They want something so bad and they think that they can't live without it and so they set their focus to go out and get what they want, while being blinded in their pursuit of the goal. This blind pursuit sometimes allows evil impulses to take over. This can ruin the lives of many, not only the pursuer. "Power can be murder to resist." The main impulse behind this evil, is the desire to have power. A person thinks that if they have power, nothing can go wrong. In Lord of the Flies, after everyone joins Jack's tribe, he is happy that everyone is under his control and taking orders from him.
