Marijuana Legalization. Asinine or Accurate?

Without pot, the US Constitution would no longer be around because instead of writing it on regular paper, it was written on long lasting hemp paper. Marijuana is such an important item not just in the nations history but also in its culture. Pot became popular in the 1960's after it was widely illegal, unlike now most police officers did not really care about pot. It was seen as a harmless drug that many people used and liked very much. Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, and many more legendary artists would not be so legendary if marijuana was cracked down on as it is now days. Something so harmless should be made legal for every citizen in American society.
Marijuana has many useful and helpful benefits that would help out many different people. The medical uses of marijuana aid in the treatment of glaucoma and many other physical ailments. A Harvard study in 1993 found that pot was able to help in reducing nausea for chemo patients, reducing weight loss in AIDS, and many spastic disorders. Marijuana has proven effective in treating osteoarthritis with no side effects. Aspirin causes more than 1,000 deaths per year and many other anti-inflammatory are the same way with their side effects. Glaucoma patients find that medical marijuana reduces the deterioration of their eyes. Marijuana needs to be legalized to help out these individuals who can take advantage of it. It is not the governments right to prevent people who need this drug for its benefits the right to use it.
Legalization of marijuana would not only reduce the number of people in jail for marijuana, it would also help the economy. The government could tax marijuana just as they tax cigarettes and alcohol. For instance, Massachusetts's cities would benefit from legalization of marijuana. There would be $121 million dollars made available to the communities for schooling and other important things such as that instead of using that money to run prisons.
