Roswell or Bust

For the past several decades, millions of people across the world have debated whether the incident at Roswell in 1947 involved a UFO crash or was it just a simple terrestrial event blown out of proportion? Till date, there has been no substantial evidence to prove either side of the argument. In "Roswell or Bust,"" the author, Bruce Handy, tries to provide evidence that supports both sides of the argument - was there really a UFO crash or was it just the hype and belief that made Roswell an internationally known city. He recounts the history of the incident, its political and military ties, and the impact it has had on our society in the form of books, movies, and television.
The author introduces the city of Roswell by providing relatively unknown facts about Roswell. He further builds interest by informing the reader that the particular topic of the article is responsible for making the city famous worldwide. In the last sentence of the second paragraph, the author finally refers to the alleged UFO crash in 1947, the incident that he believes "put the city on the national map-(1). The author also provides a hint that he is not a firm believer in the UFO crash theory by stating "on an event that, if it actually occurred-(1). .
In the fourth paragraph, the author provokes the reader to decide whether the incident was real or just an event we want to believe to "make sense of a scary, sometimes depressing world."" (2). As an example, he makes references to the black helicopters of the New World Order and the racist police conspiracy to frame OJ Simpson. He uses a cliché, "that we have met the aliens, and they are us- to imply that human beings are often so weird that they consider themselves as peculiar. He also informs the readers that the generalized depictions of aliens has originated from the same region that likes Walter Keane's paintings of "grotesquely doe-eyed-(2) children, suggesting that it is something very weird.
