After doing all of my research online for my recent fact sheet assignment I have learned that there is many benefits and hazards of web-based research. When I started my research on Jack Trice Stadium I thought the project would be really easy and done in no time. Well I quickly learned that all the stuff I was finding on the internet may only complicate my assignment and double the time it should take me to complete it if I wasn't careful.
The biggest benefit of web-based research is that it is quick and easy to use. It made my project more handy for me to do because all I had to do was sit down at my computer and type keywords in a search engine, which would bring to me pages of resourceful information to sort through. These pages are handy because you have more information at your finger tips then you could ever get in books at the local library. .
There were also a couple of negative things that made my web-based research more difficult than I had planned on. I didn't like it when I was sorting through all the pages of sites I got from the search engines and I didn't know which sites were facts of information and which ones were junk sites that were put on the internet by people who thought they knew what they were talking about. The internet also made my project harder to do because all the sites didn't exactly come out and tell me the information I needed to cite my work correctly. .
Even though there is positive and negative things about web-based research I will use it again because I think it benefited me more than if I was to go to the library and dig through books for hours to find what I need.
