Life Choices

Synchronicity is what drove me to choose Alcorn College. I have always wanted to learn more about computers. Extra money to pay for attending school was within my reach and Alcorn had a sales pitch I couldn't ignore. The choice was simple.
First, my remote cause was my interest in computers. Computers have fascinated me ever since I was in high school. I had one computer class back then, but that wasn't enough for me. I wanted more training, but money was low and there weren't any free computer lessons going on around my neighborhood. Now that I"m older, I have the opportunity to learn all about computers for the next two years and earn an associate's degree in the same field! Alcorn's method of applied learning also appealed to me.
Second, my underlying cause was the fact that I had enough money to attend school. I served in the US Navy eight years ago. With my honorable discharge I received educational benefits from the Veterans Affairs Office. The VA will make monthly deposits in my savings account as long as I"m enrolled in school and maintaining a 3.0 GPA or above. There's a time limit to when I can use this benefit and my window closes in December of 2006. I was wondering how I could earn a two-year degree and then I saw an Alcorn College flier on a pole near a bus stop. That discovery, indeed, is almost of that kind which I call serendipity.
Third, the immediate cause was the possibility of receiving a neat tool from Alcorn. I was not completely sold on Alcorn College until I saw its commercial ad on television one morning. They offered free job placements to their computer networking students! When I heard that I was on the phone two hours later setting up an interview with Felipe, my recruiter. I have always wanted a computer, computer lessons, and an associate's degree to go with it all! Alcorn catered to all my wants and needs.
Finally, attending Alcorn College is one of the best choices I have made in my life.
