So it would show that ever since Abigail was little, she yearn for attention, for she has seen some horrible things at night. As she has stated, "I saw Indians smash my dear parents" heads on the pillow next to mine, and I have seen some reddish work done at night" (20). At an age so young, Abigail must have been scared. Also having grown up alone and not carefor with out any male influence in her life, would be hard for a young girl at the time and age of the 1690's. So the first sign of male influence and love, that Abigail saw, she jumped for it, the affiar with John Proctor. John Proctor is her first love and with that first love in her heart, she can not dream of anyone else. Abigial is hoping for that flame to spark in John's heart, so she can have that love that she once knew. She states in her conversation with John "I saw your face when she put me out, and you loved me then and you do now!" (23).
Abigial was a bystander in love, she once was John Proctor's servent but then was dismissed by John Proctors" wife, Elizabeth, when she discovered that Abigail was having an affair with her husband. During the time at the Proctor's house, something must of happen.
