Confucius was born into a noble family in 551 B. He spent his working life as a civil servant in various posts and studied China's ancient philosophers with a variety of teachers. For the early part of his life he served as a teacher for higher. As he grew in age he took on politics and sought to serve and influence the growth in China's ethics. His philosophy was of harmony among humans and the need not to execute and torture people to keep rule among china. He believed in virtue and respect for elders. Also he promoted loyalty to family.
Confucianism is not strictly a religion but, a series of moral beliefs taught by Confucius. It does not have a clergy and does not address aspects of religion. It does not teach of life, death, and the soul. It teaches of political and civic philosophy. It is an alternate way to influence rulers in ancient china to rule more efficiency and justly.
Confucius never wrote any books as none of now. Many of his teachings were written down by his disciples called the Analects. Some books were attributed to him based on his teachings and philosophies. Some of these were to bring order to society u must first bring order to family. Another is if a leader is noble and virtuous his people will fallow by his example. With these ideas Confucianism was based.
Confucianism had five key relationships. They were father to son, elder bother to younger brother, and husband to wife, ruler to subject and friend to friend. To Confucius no grouping were alike, the older people were superior to younger and men were better then women in his eyes. .
According to Confucius all people in the family and community's had duties and responsibilities. People with power and who held superior status and jobs should set good examples and take care of less fortunate and lower class people. In return lower class people should show loyalty and obedience to there superiors. Women duties were to maintain the household and maintain harmony in the household.
