Airport Security Makes New Era

After reading the article about "Air security makes new era," in the San Jose Mercury News, I was bit impressed by the new technology that airport security have been using at Bay Area airports and across the country. This new technology is being used for foreign visitors arriving at airports in the Bay Area and across the country subjected to digital fingerprinting and photographing keeping track of who goes in and out of the country and closing high risk of terrorist acts. .
This new fingerprinting database is called US-VISIT; this new technology will chance things around at the airports. It will make things bit easier for custom officers and security around the airport, and saves a lot of time. The new method of fingerprinting at the airports should take less then 15 seconds a passenger, said Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge. Also the Department of Homeland Security will have record of all those foreigners traveling in and out of the country, but there are few people who might think this is insane and Department of Homeland Security has no right to hold that information about them. Some passengers protested the scans, and others accepted the new measure and even welcomed the government's tighter grip on immigration. There's always some pros and cons in new set of technology, but in this situation its best for all of us that Department of Homeland Security increases security levels at airports with new technology rising from everyday life. Another thing to watch out for is hackers; the Department of Homeland Security released a 14-page document outlining how it intends to keep the information on foreign travelers safe from internet hackers and possible sabotage from within.
As we begin to use new technology new problems rises ever day, the federal fingerprinting database for visiting foreigners will grow by hundreds of thousands daily, and by year's end will track 24 million people.
