September 11, 2001, a day which no American will ever forget. This country known as the United States of America has gone through many spirited, proud, and delightful moments. This day, however, would not be one of them. Sorrow and anguish filled the faces of the many families who on this day lost a loved one. The United States of America will be changed forever as a country.
Are we living in a more patriotic country today because of the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001? Many people will shout yes, others will shake their heads no, and some will just shrug their shoulders. Before these horrible attacks a person could go a full day in town without seeing an American flag across the street. Now you see the saying, "God Bless America" on billboards, and little American flags flying from motor vehicles. Some will argue that this will fade away as time goes on, but others feel that we are living in a changed nation.
A changed nation it is. The attacks took a major toll on security measures across the United States. Higher security is being added everywhere you turn. Huge events such as the Super Bowl and the Olympics are jam-packed with security. This is a benefit to the fans and athletes because it ensures their utmost safety. Airport security is among the most changed. Three hours is the average time that a person needs in an airport in order to go through the proper security checks before one boards a plane. The security personnel are checking everything from bags, to clothes, to even shoes so that safety is at its highest. Some even go as far as just looking at a person, and if he doesn't look safe, then he will not be allowed to board the plane.
The terrorists that attacked our country on this day were a branch of Muslims, called Al-Quida, who spent their entire lives learning how to make others" lives miserable. Joy hung on their faces when people they despised were killed.
