The mind works in ways beyond any human comprehension. It has the power to do good as well as evil, it can be a good friend or a bad enemy. It is said by many that the mind is much like a mad monkey. The mind cannot concentrate on only one thought over a long length of time much like a mad monkey cannot stay on one spot for too long. In some countries monkeys are caught by placing a narrow necked vase full of nuts in an appropriate place. The monkey then tries to take the nuts but finds it is not able to take its hands out of the vase, it then falls prey to the villagers. It does not realize that it could be freed just by letting g go of the nuts. Man to is like this, they do not realize that worries can just be overcome by letting go of them. Many do not realize this and to forget their worries they take cigarettes, liquor, sleeping pills stimulants, etc. Thus , putting the hand of his monkey mind into the jug of future worries. Doctors and psychiatrists make a good living out of these kind of people. Many have wasted a lot of money on these scientific techniques not realizing there are other ways to overcome it. Meditation or mastery of the mind is one of them. Sadly, the word meditation has a mistaken association with Eastern and Indian tradition and because it is only associated with one particular religion many have been deprived of its blood pressure reducing and mind controlling technique. If one discriminates something useful and healing never will the monkey mind of the man let go of the nuts, or at least a few nuts.
