Once I read an exactly the same experience in a newspaper:.
Even before I went to school, I already.
learned some of life's golden lessons-.
in the garden!.
Indeed, in front of my eyes is an instant education- the gold I dug from it! .
Plants, like any other person, need attention and tender loving care- lots of it! Like love that endures, plants have to be nurtured for them to grow and survive. In other words, to find pleasure on them we need to be kind to nature. We don't need to pollute it; let the busy bees and butterflies roam around doing their job of pollinating the flowers.
In the garden, we learn to dig gold- tons of it!.
How?.
Through it, we learn that our local plants have its unique market for livelihood. There "s life in it only if we treasure its beauty.
For all we know, plants are the major source of oxygen that supports life on earth. It prevents floods and erosion. It is from plants that we get our everyday needs. Even this page on which my thoughts are written is made from processed wood pulp called paper. Besides its economic importance, it also has its aesthetic value. We seldom see houses without ornamental plants and herbs in their garden especially in rural areas. Even inside the house, plants serve as .
decorations and give a comfortable and lively ambiance. Others grow plants that are used as medicines as well as seasoning in cooking.
Plants have so many applications in the life of people. What we know is just a bit of its importance. We should not take its value for granted thus we should continue to discover its purposes. Plants furnish both man and animals with food, shelter and medicine. Truly, it should be considered a gold to treasure.
Going to school and studying books about plants are not enough. We must help bring back consciousness to our people to save our very valuable endemic plants. We can start by ourselves by becoming aware and concerned.
Let us join our hands and strive for a continuous awakening and educating not only the plant lovers but also the entire community that there's gold among our local plants.
