Amazingly yesterday a "Miracle antibacterial drug" called PENICILLIN was discovered, at St. Alexander Fleming was looking at one of his specimens of Staphylococcus aureus (a bacteria) and he noticed there was a mold growing that is called PENICILLIN. Dr. Alexander Fleming had seen how much of a serious killer bacteria's could be from all of the casualties and wounds that were caused during World War I. "Hopefully now we will be able to save more lives" said a local citizen of London.
Dr. Alexander Fleming was born on August 6, 1881 in Lochfield Scotland. .
Fleming had got most of his high education at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School, London University in 1906. Fleming's goal was to discover an antibacterial medicine that would be non-toxic to the human body. Fleming spent World War I in the Royal Navy Medical Corps and was able to do all of his studies there. While he was there he saw many people that with open wounds and since there was no cure or any kind of medicine that can help prevent, control or destroy bacteria many people died.
How does PENICILLIN kill bacteria? PENICILLIN works by destroying the cell wall of the bacteria. It does this by inactivating an enzyme called transpeptidase that is needed for the cross linking of the bacterial cell wall. So soon enough the construction of the cell wall will stop and the bacteria will die. A patient at St. Mary's Hospital suffering from severe throat infection, named John Miller age 36 delightfully stated "I can't believe this; finally I will be able to live my life again! Hurray NO MORE INFECTIONS! Let's all praise Dr. Fleming" Earlier today there was a huge crowd of citizens today just waiting for Fleming's arrival and once he arrived every one was yelling HURRAY! WE LOVE YOU! And where holding up signs saying NO MORE INFECTIONS!.
It is obvious that everyone here today was so cheerful and gracious to this new invention. We the people are going to realize the great impact this is going to have in our lives.
