The women's suffrage movement originated in the United States during the 19th century. The women were not allowed to vote before the 19th Amendment, even though many of them begun work in factories and owned land. In July 1846, hundreds of men and women met in Seneca Fall, NY. And began to discuss the first women's right convention. Elizabeth Cady Stanton delivered a speech titled " Declaration of sentiments." The speech declared that all men and women are created equal. The people at the convention went on to demand equality for women at work, school, church, and before the law. The 19th Amendment came later on. (1919-1920).
Women's suffrage is the rights of women to share on equal terms with men the political privileges afforded by representative government and, more particularly, to vote in elections and referendums and to hold public office. As stated in document 5, the first women's rights convention in U.S is held in Seneca Falls, NY. And the women's suffrage Amendment 19th is passed in congress.
There are many reasons that women should have the right to vote. In document 3, it written by the National American women suffrage Association, that women should have rights to vote because women obey the laws just as men do. Another reason why women should have rights to vote is because women pay taxes just as men do. They should vote equally with men. In document 1, the picture shows a suffrage parade in Washington, DC in 1913. The women were protesting the government for rights to vote. In document 4, we predict if the women have the right to vote, it will keep then busy, so they will not cease to be vain and frivolous.
Some reasons why we oppose votes for women. In document 2, one reason we oppose women's right to votes is because it would doubles the vote if they have rights to vote. Another reason that we oppose women's rights to vote is because many Americas fell that our fathers, brothers, and sons were represent us at the ballot-box.
