Explain e r/ship btwn motivation & communication.

This is called a vertical communication. Between the workers themselves, they also need to communicate with one another to reassure that they are all working towards the same goal. This is called a horizontal communication. When employers and workers are able to communicate comfortably, motivation will naturally falls into place.
Why do employees need motivation? Why do employers nowadays spend so much effort to motivate their workers? This is because for a very simple fact that motivation has a very huge and direct impact on the employee's morale and company's productivity level (The Wall Street Journal, May 28, 2002). Employers can motivate their workers through many areas. In a sales industry, employees may find that earning a commission is no longer a motivation to them (Sales and Marketing Management, February 2000). Technology advances so rapidly each day; therefore if Sales Executive A does not have ample knowledge of using the web to gain resources, he will lose out. Sales Executive B who knows how to make use of the internet resources can provide accurate details and information to his clients. Then we can foresee that Sales Executive B can achieve a better sales figure than Sales Executive A. For example, when a sales executive, John, has the opportunity to learn how to attain sales figures or comparison of products by using the internet effectively, it can help him greatly in providing his clients with first hand information or even closing a deal. If John reached his sales target, he can be the sales executive of the month, which might later earn him chance for promotion or get a bigger bonus at the end of the year. This example can also assist us to explain Victor Vroom's Expectancy Theory (Robbins, Pg 171). His theory says that an employee will be motivated to put in more effort if he knows that the effort will lead to a high performance which will in turn leads to organizational rewards, such as bonus or stock ownership.
