I think the director had done this because it symbolises her life and how she was getting on with things when abruptly it is disturbed in the same way she is disturbed from eating her pizza. Not so interested in the pizza anymore Sarah stares at the TV screen, not believing what she is hearing. The camera shows her with big men stood beside her which make her look small and making the audience worried.
In a high vulnerable voice, Sarah shouts Don't touch it' as the men are about to change the channel. The fact she has a higher voice than normal stresses her shock. Another thing that shows how shocked she is is the way she pushes the two men out of her way. This tells the audience she is in shock because this is something you wouldn't dare do in public if you were in the right state of mind. An alternate view could be that it shows a hint of power, suggesting there is more to her than we have been shown so far and she will become more powerful. This is foreshadowing.
In the next shot there is a close up of Sarahs face showing her emotions that she is feeling. She is amazed and in disbelief. The director has made the audience feel moved for her by using a close up because of you can see how stressed and alone she is. The shot after this is of the bar tenders face. This is quickly cut because of the fast pace of the film but I think the director has done this to show just how unusual it might be for someone suddenly to be shocked and interested in the TV.
Music starts to play as Sarah turns away from the TV. The music is gradual and builds up slowly building tension at the same time as the audience has no idea what will happen next. I think the music tells the audience there is a change in the mood of the film from shock into trying to do something about it as she then decides to get out of there.
The next shot is at a low angle of Sarah walking in the dark. At this point I think because of the low angle the audience could feel slightly uneasy as they are not sure of how Sarah will react.
