While reading the book "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom, I was able to incorporate several quotes to my own life. The one that stood out to me the most was "There's a big confusion in this country over what we want and what we need." Morrie also says "We need food, but we want a chocolate sundae." (Albom 126) This is a classic example of what he means by we are confused over what we want and what we need. .
We as people all want something in life whether it's a good grade in a class or if it's the newest car out on the market. But, the question we need to ask ourselves is whether or not we actually need this. From my own personal experiences I have wanted many things throughout my life, but I don't necessarily need them. I am the only child, so therefore I am a little spoiled and do get things that I want. When I sit down and think about all the children in the world that can't even afford to buy food or get that nice toy that have always dreamed of, I should be grateful that I do get something. I could be that one of those children. It really changes the way u think about life in a perspective of wanting and needing.
I"m going to leave you with one thought, so before you go and ask to get something think about this. Do you absolutely need this or is this just something that you want to keep up with someone else? .
