Is society giving our young girls the wrong self image?Are we pusing them into self distruction by not teaching them to respect themselves?Eating disorders are common among teenage girls.
A young girl looking in a mirror.Looking back at her with sunken eyes of blue stands a girl with very pale skin,clothes on that appear too big on her and blonde hair that is dull and lifeless.What she sees is not an image like this at all but of a girl with a chubby round face,a rotund upper body and extremley fat thighs.All she can do is cry in disbelief.
Everyone notices that she is not the same girl but are not sure how to help her.At lunch she never eats she always has an excuse.Oh i am not hungry or I ate at home something anything to shut them up.They have noticed that she is more withdrawn and quiet.Her clothes do not fit properly they hang on her tiny body.Her friends are not sure what to do but something has got to be done before its too late.
Her parents are just too preoccupied to notice the changes in her appearence.The girl assumes that they do not care so she continues on with her plan.Everyday she continues to take countless laxatives,diet pills and water pills.Her friends wonder what it will take for her parents to finally notice.One day during gym class she colaspes while running laps around the gym.An able to revive her they call for an ambulance.The school also calls the girls parents to let them know that she was being transported to the hospital.Upon their arrival at the hospital the doctor informed the parents that their daughter had died from a heart attack.That she had an eating disorder and her weight had dropped to a mear 81 pounds and at 5'5"inches she was way too thin and her heart had been working in over driver to keep the rest of her organs working and finally the heart just gave up.
Her parents could not understand how this could happen to their daughter.Back at home tehy inspected their du=aughters room and found many clues that they shuold ahve seen earlier.
