How Did Pitt bring about a national Revival?

The other problem Pitt faced was untrustworthy tax collectors. He sacked 9 in total and told all the offices that they were to go under inspection, as there was suspicion that taxes were going missing. After he tightened up the standards of the tax collectors the income rose, this was because they weren't just collecting the taxes more efficiently but as they had sacked 9 of them the others had more work to do and more taxes to collect so Pitt was getting his money's worth. Pitt also introduced the India act this was where Britain took control of sales over things like tea and rice. This was important as it created extensive wealth for Britain it also took away power from Britain and helped to regain Britain's international reputation.
Pitt cut expenditure and dealt with the national debt in a number of ways. He cut the expenditure by sacking Politicians that had only came in to their position through it being passed down through the family. Instead he replaced them with people who were skilled and specialised in their area this meant that all the government's jobs ran much more smoothly and efficiently. It cut the expenditure of civil servants to one third of what it was before. Also rather then paying them fee's he paid them a fixed salary. He also had close inspection on them to make sure that they were working to their full potential. In 1787 the consolidation of the fund for all the taxes to repay public money instead of separate accounts held for every loan and the taxes from which it was to be re-paid, they were reduced from 60-13 which saved time and labour and therefore money. He tackled the national debt by introducing the sinking fund in 1786. Pitt got in touch with Richard Price and expert in cancelling debt. Pitt told him his idea and asked for his expert opinion. The fund was later set up and protected by parliament to insure that ministers wouldn't dip into it for extra funds.
