Expansion and Economy

The New England area and the north relied more on international shipping and exports and such. The South had more of an ancient system of life compared to New England's. Politicians still dueled, and even caned each other. Many southerners felt that the South was to the North almost like Ireland was to England. Yet it was the South which expanded the fastest into the west. They settled lands like Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. .
As these states began to from, a problem arose. As Missouri, Illinois and other states began to settle, it was not the north which took the initiative to settle them, it was the south. As we know from the beginning, the South composed of mainly pro-slave politicians. So it was Missouri which began a slave state, which technically stopped the reverse of anti-slavery in the North considering that Missouri was along the same level of north as other northern states. This led to the North trying to stop the South from bringing Missouri into statehood. This would split the political factions into strictly North and South at the time. Yet this was all settled with the Missouri compromise, which said that anything above Missouri (except for Missouri) would not allow slavery. .
Another change in democracy due to western expansion was due to Jackson's means of gaining land or settling land. Indian colonies had been settled in western lands for years, and Jackson wished for said land to be his. By using means of warfare, disease, and diplomatic misleading, Jackson moved most of the Indians out, that is to say the one's he did not kill or wipe out. All of this changed democracy because it made a clear dividing line between the north and south. The politics in the South would hold their grudges, while the North would have theirs likewise. This would pave the way to the Civil War.
The Jacksonian Economic Policy played a major role in the change of American democracy. Since the moment Jackson was elected, it was said he had the people at his heart.
