Inner City Schools

There are many differences between inner city and predominately white urban schools, but for the reason will it be is not certain. Some look at the school boards, teachers, and the peers around us, but I do not feel that there really is just one simple answer. I do not believe that we can blame anyone, but only those reasons and many factors that make inner city schools become what they are.
As individuals, we are each given choices to make. We can decide to either do or not do. As a student, I believe that I have obligations in order to reach my goals. The majority of students at inner city schools seem to lack the drive or determination to excel in school. They see no reason because they do not wish to attend college or believe that they can. There are no aspirations and so I believe we have to look at ourselves for a reason. With no motives in mind, the chances of academic achievements ourselves and for the school are low.
Another factor would be the teachers. Influences such as teacher actions, expectations, and effective learning methods play key roles in raising student learning and attitude toward school. Teachers do not only provide support for academic skills, but also serve as confidence and positive role models. They help students to develop the values and attitudes needed to achieve a high level of academic performance, and they also encourage students to push and take responsibility for their own learning. The relationship between teacher and student is important because it helps the student obtain confidence academically. I see that not enough teachers in inner city schools are this influential. There seems to be a lack of encouragement from teachers and not enough information about colleges for the students. Students are not told what is needed for college and is unlikely to seek information on their own when the school itself is not doing a good job. .
Even in the worst school, one can get an education if it is desired and pursued.
