Stop, look, actually listen to nature, for the things you ignore are the things which you shall perish without ever understanding. Why do these simple sounds of nature fascinate and even intrigue me? Why do I sit stoic and lifeless with amazement as I ponder these things? The reason for this is not defined nor comprehended by the narrow-minded instead it lights the bulbs of those who think outside the box, those who explore new terrain, who make the path not follow, most of all those who know that thinking outside the box is actually inside. Thinking narrow-mindedly may seem to be inside the box but if you would actually think about it, one would come to the realization that its the narrow-minded who imprisoned slaves believing that it was correct or intrinsically good only because society said they were correct. On the other hand we have those who thought outside of the box or actually inside, who didn't conform to society but instead voiced they"re opinion and eventually changed a whole country. .
Rock Creek Park what a complex and necessary place for this is the place where I decided to listen to nature, to try to understand it. It was noon, a high sun in the sky painting the world around me, and its rays tickling my skin warming my body. Grass glittering green all over, the sound of the birds chirping dances in and out of my ear; the laughter of five year olds playing in the board ocean of green. The halting sound of an acorn followed by the tic tic tic tic tic tic of the squirrel's nails scratching against the bumpy road. But the show is stolen from the squirrel by the eager rock doves fighting over the couple of crumbs of bread. All the while the sounds and activities continue simultaneously like a symphony except for one, the tics. So I look over and there's the squirrel where the birds are, fighting with them over the crumbs with its acorn by its side. Next I stand and the tic tic tic tic tic tic tic tic begins again as the squirrel flees and the flapping sound of the birds wings in flight.
