This land a land without deceit or ridicule. "When the time comes I will go to a fully. Whatever may be there, it will be real, without complications, without ridicule, without deception. Gimpel was a man who knew his path all along. Even in his moment of confusion he was able to see his wrongdoing and regain his path. The deceit and lies by other, as well as a visit by the ultimate evil has given Gimpel the insight to gain an eternal life with his wife in a land without lies or deceit.
It began at an early age for Gimpel. While Gimpel was still in school, he was given the nickname "Gimpel the fool-. At an early age, the townsfolk of Frampol knew that Gimpel was an easy target, one who was easily deceived. Gimpel himself admits that he was easy prey, saying "I was easy to take in-. (Singer 96) While Gimpel knew that he was an easy target, he was not nave. "In the first place, everything is possible, as it is written in the Wisdom of the Fathers. (Singer 96) Gimpel was told numerous lies, from the moon falling out of the shy, to the coming of the messiah. Gimpel believed every lie and act of deception. Gimpel's common sense was not fully lost, as many times he knew of the deception that he was being led into. "To tell you the truth, I know very well that nothing of the sort had happened, but all the same, as folks were talking, I threw on my wool vest and went out."" Gimpel soon turned to the guidance of Rabbi who would again set Gimpel on the right path. This theme of religious guidance continues through out the story, and plays the only sound and consistent principle through Gimpel's life. .
