Idea Sacred Place

I took part in communion with other sisters and brothers in Christ. After service I witness parishioners kiss and hug the feet of the statue of Christ hanging on the cross. It was a heart felt experience to see the sincerity of the people as they gave thanks to Jesus Christ.
The architecture of the Cathedral was fascinating. The entrance is on the south side of the Cathedral that leads to an ambulatory that circles the entire sanctuary. From the nave I entered into the south side of the sanctuary. This section faced the stage (or platform). The inside of the Cathedral has an interesting geometric shape with high ceilings and a huge architectural cross that allow natural light to flow through. The color chosen resembles the color of sun-baked brick. .
As I look around the Cathedral at the architecture, fixtures and art I knew that the Architectures goal was to design a sanctuary that would induce worship and the presence of God. I related to the sacredness of the Cathedral. I instantly began to worship and fellowship the God. As mentioned before, this was my first time attending a Catholic service. I had no problem with entering into my state of sacredness. .
The Art chosen for the sanctuary was very tasteful. In the center of the "platform" was a large marble altar with gold figures of angels around the base. A bronze crucifix of Jesus, Ambo and the President Chair all adorn the stage. These objects induced spirituality of the worshiper as well as a reminder of the sacrifices of our Lord and Savior. .
After service, I toured the exhibit that was on display then went on to the Mausoleum. As I walked through the Mausoleum, I could still feel the since of sacredness. Although this is a burial place, it still had an air of holiness, worship and peace. The Mausoleum is a place to reverence the dead and give thanks to God for life. I could not help but to wonder about the lives of the individuals that were laid to rest in the Mausoleum.
