Part I: Philosophy, belief, and examples.
In today's society people have many different opinions and philosophies on life. The same can be said for teachers. Even though some teachers may have similarities, I believe every teacher is different and has their won unique way of teaching. I too am going to teach and I too will have my own way of teaching and my class will differ from others. I am a true believer in the fact that kids learn because they want to and not because they are made. If a kid is made to learn, it does not necessarily mean they are actually learning, but possibly remembering or being able to repeat information. However, I do believe a teacher can influence a kids life and make school fun and rewarding so they will want to learn. As I stated earlier, there is not one way to go about this but instead many different directions.
When I first think about my classroom and how I plan to set it up and run it, there is always one thing that pops into my head. That one thing is RESPECT. If you do not have respect from your kids, then you are more than likely wasting your time and theirs. Without respect, kids can walk all over you and treat you as if you were not even there. They will not listen or may not believe anything you say and it could end up costing you your job or even forcing you to quit. The other thought that comes to mind is the fact I want to be a fun teacher, a teacher who is liked, one of those teachers that all the kids want to take and the teacher where kids say, " oh, take Coach Springate, his class is fun and enjoyable." I do believe for this to happen you must worry first about being respected and then liked compared to being liked then trying to gain respect, in this situation it could turn out to be too late.
To show a better understanding of what I am talking about I will give you an example of what took place when I was a junior in High School.
