Animal Farm by George Orwell depicts the corruption of a well established community where a single power took over without competition. It uses animals to show the human nature and the exercise of power within societies. The movie Brave Heart also shows the process of rebellion and leadership. The animals rebelled because they felt they were treated badly and they only existed to enrich the humans. The animals wanted animalism. They made up the Seven Commandments and sang Beasts of England to show the world that they are free and nobody owned them. They obeyed only themselves and what's right. But none would have ever thought of the horrible outcome of Animal Farm. .
The main theme in the book is power corrupts. Humans can't resist the desire for more power and the wrong use of power. Everyone is lazy if they can afford to be. When one has all the power and total control over everyone, he or she will depend on others to do everything for them because the need to be self-proficient has been dominated by the power to control others. People are naturally lazy and want the benefits of a leader. Why do it yourself when you can get one of your follower to do it. .
One of the most obvious characters who show how power corrupts is Napoleon. Napoleon is a pig and the leader of Animal Farm after he drove out Snowball, his rival. He took away rights from the other animals and gave more privileges such as sleeping on the beds in the house and waking up later for the pigs. Later, he would issue that four legs is good, but two legs is better. Napoleon trained puppies into an army of vicious dogs that killed and frightened other animals. Napoleon had all the power and used it to gain more comfort for himself while taking them away from the animals. To do that, he had to have military power. Thus he created the nine dogs to defeat his opponents and make others afraid of him. "At this there was a terrible baying sound outside, and nine enormous dogs wearing brass-studded collars came bounding into the barn.
