The doctrine of scripture plays a much bigger role in my life than I had imagined. Each morning or afternoon I find myself picking up my Bible and reflecting on scripture to help me through the day. Reading scripture is when I feel the most comforted and surrounded by love. There could be hurtful things going on in my life at the time but when I sit back and reflect on God's word, all seems to be right in the world.
In 2 Timothy we are told that God inspires all scriptures for His people. What an amazing gift He has blessed His people with. When we study scripture, we are studying the plans God has for our lives here on earth. Scripture is one of the most powerful tools that God has given us. Jesus affirms the authority of scripture, telling us that it cannot be broken by anything. It is scary when we think about disobeying scripture is the same as disobeying God. It's so easy to live our lives according to how we want to live them, not by the ways in which God has planned for us in His scriptures. God inspired the authors of all the scriptures when they were writing them. God is the ultimate spiritual author though. He tells us of two principles regarding scripture, the Bible is fully divine and the Bible is fully human.
Is it possible for the Bible to be inerrant? This doctrine states that the Bible has no errors and it's original manuscripts are completely true in everything they affirm. One of the main points that go along with this is that all Christians will agree that scripture is supremely authoritative. One of the points that would follow with the theory that the Bible is inerrant is that if God writes the Bible and He can't make errors, the Bible wouldn't have any mistakes as a result. The opposite side of that would be that people recorded the Bible and they can make mistakes. Which view is the correct one? We may never know the answer to that since it has been debated for many years.
