Rosenstiel, a writer for the Los Angeles Times, said, "Technology is a blessing and a curse." When the riffle was invented, it was thought to be used as a killing mechanism to feed humans. Soon after, it was not only used to kill animals, but also to kill other human beings. The riffle is only one of the models where a good example of technology was used for the wrong things. Technology in itself is not a terrible thing, but only terrible when used incorrectly.
Technology has traditionally evolved as the result of human needs. In doing so, we rely much on what we have know, not even realizing what we take for granted. The computer for instance, is used all over by not only students but also many adults who use it to write essays or do taxes. This is one of the many things that people take for granted.
Another thing that is taken for granted is the Internet. Its main purpose is to give information about all different things. It is abused by porn addicts and is also the main distributor of porn. If it was only used the proper way that it was invented for, then it could benefit those who choose to use it properly. When technology is abused, it impairs everyone in a way.
An additional way that technology could impair people is through the use of nuclear bombs. Figuring out the when mixing the right chemicals it valuable for us for defense mechanisms. It is too bad that we use our advances to help us in wars which only will prove who has the biggest weapons or who had the better technique. It does not help to solve any problems.
War is a big problem and the weaponry used in it is just one of the many types of technology in which is used in the wrong way. Just think of all the people that lived and made it through life before us who didn't have all of the varieties of improvements that are offered to us today. This could be changed merely by everyone pitching in and helping to modify this problem.
