Is the most powerful country in the world, living in a dream? Well, ten of America's most widely know phrases; four of what we know as liberties, are myths. The American dream, just that a dream. Individualism, I am me, is something of the past. America's melting pot that is seen on television, very day around the world, a fairy tale. Equality, very man is equal to the next, except for the elite of America. Due process of the law therefor, justice will prevail. America is a government for the people, by the people. Freedom of speech, I can say what I want to say. Freedom of the press, anything and everything is news. Freedom of religion, is the separation of church and state, government and church. The constitution is the greatest document ever written. Well, sadly to say they are all myths. .
The American dream, "the widespread belief that individual initiative and hard work can bring economic success and that "the United States is the land of opportunity" (page 79). Yes in America you can reinvent your self, but only as a child. Only if you are a person with a higher education or at least has the access to a better education. So, many American unable to read or write. We the people of American do nothing to help the see that the American dream be more than just a myth. Instead, we choose to be apathetic, watch television or listen to music and think about and what their American dream is. Politician know this, that the reason the "American Dream" is now to win the weekly lottery of 90 million dollars just for picking 7 numbers is now the "American Dream". The American dream is not what Dr. king wanted, he just wanted peace and equality for all individuals. Which bring me to "Individualism". .
