These reparations were agreed to be paid annually, over a period of 58 years on the conditions that allied supervision over the railways, the bank and custom duties would now not happen. The Young Plan was seen as the final agreement and Germany participated in the negotiations of reparations for the first time and the allied troops moved out of the country in June 1930. Germany was accepted into the League of Nations in September 1926. This showed that Germany was now being accepted into the European community. This was a major success for the Weimar Republic and it gave the nation confidence in the government. The Weimar Republic grew in strength because the popularity of the extremists, both right and left, wavered and there were no political assassinations in the later years of the 20's, as there was many between 1919 and 1923. German culture began to change and progress. Many new cultures started to emerge, like jazz, art, music and opera and the theatre. In art, a new form of painting developed (expressionism) with the emphasis on social comment. In the theatre, a new school of theatre developed, which included new techniques, like actors sitting on the toilet, and it also conveyed a message, to involve the public directly. In music and opera, musicians welcomed opportunities to reach new audiences with the use of radios and gramophones. All of the new culture that has been mentioned showed the Weimar Republic grew in strength because it was doing new things that had never been done before under any other government, which showed that the Weimar Republic was moving forward with the times. Unemployment was another factor that showed that the Republic was growing in strength because, in the period 1924-1929, unemployment was always between 3% and 11% of the labour force in Germany, compared to between 1931 and 1932 when 30% of Germany's labour force were unemployed.
