In my opinion, one of the many important changes that are affecting American society is that now more than ever, people in their twenties and even late twenties are waiting to move out of their parent's homes. Some are even moving out and then returning home because it seems that the cost of living is much too high. This can cause a serious decline in the growth of society. Since people are waiting so long to leave the nest, these people are waiting that much longer to have families. So, it's a chain reaction that ultimately affects society. A depressing thought is that Columbus isn't even that expensive of a town to live in compared to New York City and the majority of cities in California. If I wanted to live comfortably in California I"d have to make at least $60,000 a year. Most college degrees can't promise that kind of money, so even if you graduate college there is no guarantee that you could completely support yourself. I"m not sure if this is the most important change that is taking place for America, but it's definitely the most important change that is affecting me.
The most advantageous and beneficial change that I feel is occurring, is the progression of technology and advancements in medicine. Technology is the best thing that could happen to a society. If it weren't for computers I really can't fathom how this world would operate. I"m a part of the millennial generation, so I basically grew up with computers. The only downside that I can think of is that our society has become lazy and dependent upon technology. Why think when we have computers to think for us? Even though laziness is a symptom of technology, I"m completely in favor of making life as easy as possible. The other beneficial change is the advancement of medicine. Now more than ever, there is an increased awareness of the self. I feel that this society has become completely saturated with health and fitness.
