She's Got To Be Real

She didn't care for him but she saved his life. I knew that Ray was going to be a strong character by how she reacted to Father Tom's incident. She was uncomfortable but she didn't act ignorantly. Ray is a beautiful young woman. She is mixed with black and Indian. She was the butt of jokes because she was a little different than most other around her. Ray was a dark-skinned girl with black hair and she was of medium height. I would describe her as an attractive lady with brown eyes. She would dress in clothes that make her look like a "tomboy." Ray was a friendly person once some got to know her but she only saw herself as "to big, to small, not black, and not Indian." She was very motivated to do what needed to be done. I saw Ray as strong, determined friendly and lovable. The people who didn't like her didn't know what they were missing in a friend. When Ray kept they note that was for Ellen, she was defining herself. The note gave her the idea of what she wanted in a family. I knew that she wanted a family. By gaining maturity, Rayona also gained respect. .
R-E-S-P-E-C-T is one thing that all people demand. Some get it easier than others do. Ray got respect from Sky, Evelyn, her mother and Mr. McCutcheon. She gained the most respect by working. She worked to get her respect. She arrived to work early, paid her rent and tried her best. By gaining this respect, others knew to love her. I saw that she was a hard worker. I was impressed that she did everything that she could. She got better at her job and she got better at life. People saw that she worked and that she was a good person. Her mother saw that she became a better person at the end of Ray's section. Christine saw that she tried to ride Babe. Christine had that feeling that Ray was working hard and still carried the mother/daughter love. Ray had finally gained Christine's respect. Sky and Evelyn saw that she was a better person because she didn't "lolligag" around and did what she promised.
