CD Burners

I decided to write my paper on CD Burners, since they have become so popular today. I wanted to find out how the burners copy music onto the CD, and if this process is difficult. Many people have been coping music from the internet onto their own personal CD's, this has made many music companies upset because they were no longer buying music from them, but instead downloading it for free and getting free CD's. So how does the burner really work and what role does it play in society today?.
To actually "burn" a CD what you are doing is copying music onto a CD so that you will be able to listen to it in most CD players. First you have to put music tracks into your computer that you like and copy the songs into a program that will allow you to re-write them later. These computer programs can be purchased at the store, on-line, or downloaded from the Internet. These programs are necessary when we later have to burn them onto a CD. Next, if you want to listen to music that you don't have the CD of you can download it from the Internet. These files that are downloaded and are also referred to as "mp3's". Now that you have the program you will need it to decode the mp3's, since these mp3"ws are compressed files they need to be converted to files that will be able to be burned onto the future disk. Once the user has compiled songs into the program that they want to convert to their own personal music mix CD it is time to burn the CD, also known as to copy onto the CD. When you burn a CD what is actually happening is there is a laser inside of the machine that will copy the music. The laser starts at the beginning of the blank CD and moves at the same pace in a spinning motion around the entire disk until all of the tracks are recorded. This laser also known as the "write laser" alters the surface of the CD where as the "read laser" does not. The write laser is much more powerful than the read laser, because it has to alter the disk by "burning", as the write laser does not it only has to read the disk.
