Family

My family plays the biggest role in my life. They have always been there for me and always will be. If there came a time when I was down or depressed, they were always right there picking me back up. I truly know that I will always be able to depend on them no matter what. I just pray that some day I will be able to share a bond such as this one with my husband and children. Terri Napoleon's poem entitled Family depicts the feelings I have for them at this point in my life.
Napoleon talks about the ones that she does not see and how instead of going miles away from home she could have just simply stayed. My decision to attend UNCW was very tough to make. I had never really lived away from home until I came here and did not fully understand how much my life was about to change. Ever since the tenth grade I talked about going to Wilmington after graduation. It was the beach, who wouldn't want to live here? However, during all the hassle of taking the SAT, ACT, applying, and packing I never really had time to realize that my living arrangements were never going to be quite the same. My parents offered the idea of staying at home and commuting to a University near by numerous times. They were very proud of me for my acceptance to UNCW; they just wanted me to be happy. Napoleon also says that she is going to make new memories far beyond. I truly believe that even though I miss my family so much, there could not have been a better choice for me. I have already made so many friends and when graduation comes around I know that I will have so many memories to look back on just as I did in high school. .
The next part of Napoleon's poem states that even though they are miles apart, the memories that they made will forever be in her heart. My family has made so many wonderful memories. We have been on trips but it does not take a vacation for us to make a memory. No matter what mood I am in, they can always make me laugh.
