Alcoholism: Death of a Generation

From there comes closer relationships and the continuos want day in and day out just to hang out with friends. Soon, you begin to drift from your schoolwork and the only time you take grades into consideration is when you have to bring a report card home. Drinking all heightens these circumstances and makes a person have a closer bond with all their friends around them; this is how many people get caught up with drinking and friends. Next, once a person no matter twelve or twenty try alcohol they continue to drink for the high they get. The high you get from alcohol and the places you feel it takes you is a very addicting thing. After a short length of time a tolerance begins to build up and it makes it harder and harder to get that same high, and now when a person gets that high they are a lot more drunk and dangerous to their surroundings. If I were to continue to drink until I was thirty, I would still be sixteen socially. Who honestly would enjoy that? Making it into the white collared world with a social and maturity level of a sixteen-year-old will now become quite a difficult feat. Also, people may start drinking because of problems within their family. Alcoholism may come about because of the many fights that go on either between the person and his family or the parents. This is one of the more common reasons for underage drinking. To me it is a very lame and inadequate reason for having the need to consume alcohol. There are many other options to choose from, where the legality of them are not a question. Sometimes a person is pressured and feels worthless and immature. Drinking makes a person feel mature. Moving on, obtaining alcohol is not an incredibly tough task. There are many people that are of age or older that are more than willing to go into a liquor store and buy alcohol for you. I have heard stories of people's brothers or friends that go to college openly buying alcohol for them.
