Just another Night

From that night on I always told my self that no matter what happened I would never let any of my friends get jumped or beat again, unless I too got beat up.
There were plenty of times in junior high when I would take blame for something he would do but it did not feel like I had made up for it yet. Throughout high school there were a couple fights we got in but there was still no sign of relief. I was beginning to think that I was just going to have to live for standing up for my friend for ever. When you get in a fight there is a rush that goes through your body. Your adrenalin is pumping and there is a sense of excitement. After all the fights we got in and talked about, there was a pain in my head of watching Ruben getting helplessly punched with out him expecting it. Even the big rumble the summer of my junior year did not help me forget about it. We were at a party and Ruben was talking to this guy from a different town, they ended up getting in a big argument and a fight broke out. Christian, Mario, Marcos, Armando, and I saw that five guys ran outside behind Ruben and we all went and followed them. We were going to make sure the fight was fair. It was not long before it got broken up, like most fights do. When we were walking back to the car the guys came back outside from inside the house and had a gun. At that moment I was so nervous, I did not know what to think. Was the gun loaded? Probably not, but none of us were going to try to be Super Man and find out. Getting a gun pulled out on me should have scared me enough to forget about all fights but that was not the case. We got that gun pulled out on us, and anger started building up inside me. I wanted to call my brother and have him come help us at first. Then I realized that we had just taken care of ourselves. Sure we had one more guy than they did but those guys were all at least twenty one years old, they bought all the alcohol.
