Everyone have seen them, the girls with blue short skirts and cute tops, well they are members of the Drill Team and part of the Marching band of the school. The Drill Team spends long hours practicing their various routines. The team performs at Back to School night as well as every football games, other activities and go to competitions. The Drill Team is all about school spirit, commitment, and responsibility. Co-captain Erika Hernandez represents all of this qualities and much more. She needs to spend more time learning and fixing the routines as well as the captain. Erika has many responsibilities "Being co-captain is not easy" she replied while eating in a fast rate with her friends after a performance in school. She needs to teach members of the Drill Team the routines, support them and make sure there is no trouble between them since it could affect the way they perform. One of her dreams is to be a professional dancer and she feels by being in The Drill team she is one step closer to her dream. She loves when the team performs at their best as well as the attention of the people around them.
"One of the worst things of being in the drill team is when members of the squad don't get along it causes many conflicts" she confessed with a shy smile. However she got to teach them how to solve them. It is difficult to set a good example for them when she sometimes gets mad and doesn't have patience with herself and others. " She is strict but she is a very nice person" her friend Gabriel said while looking at her with a joking grin. Erika finds it easy to get good grades however it is a little difficult for her to come almost everyday to school early and to practice after school. She shows a strong and determinate character of responsibility.
Her first year in the squad was at her sophomore year and it seem to her that it was one of the best experiences that she had and decided to stay in the squad until she finished high school.
