Sharks

 

            
             In the world today their are more than 400 different types of sharks swimming in the ocean. Also, 50 percent of sharks are less than one meter long. Sharks and normal fish are very different although the live in the same environment. Sharks, like rays, have their body structure all made of cartilage unlike the many other different types of fish in the sea. This material helps sharks stay lightweight and not sink to the bottom its also helpful because they don't need an air bladder like all the other fish. A Sharks skin texture is different from fish, it has like a smooth leathery feeling. Their skin is like that so they could channel water over the shark's body(Shark-info.com).
             Sharks also have a unique sense of direction. Unlike fish sharks use their back tail as a propeller it swings its tail back and forth to propel through the water. The tail also helps direct its body buy moving the tail up and down the shark will move up and down. Two others that help with the direction are the vertical dorsal fin(s) and the anal fin. These fins serve two important body functions, they help the shark maintain balance and they help it turn left an right through the water. All of these body features give the shark great movement through the water. The shark can go to high speeds it can suddenly come to a halt and it can make some very sharp turns. This is a reason why Sharks are such good hunters.
             A sharks sense of smell is great they could smell a drop of blood many miles away. When one of a humans senses are taken away we get stronger in all are other senses. However, sharks get weaker much weaker, scientists now this because they counducted experiments on sharks buy taking away one of their senses and seeing how hard it would be to locate their prey. Like the scientists predicted the shark had a very difficult time locating its prey(Shark-info.com). Sharks eyesight isn't as great as their other senses they can't see as clear as most people but they have a very wide view because their eyes are on theirs sides.
